Straighten the penis and regain a peaceful sex life
Dr. Davy Benarroche, urologist-andrologist surgeon, is an expert in correcting penile curvatures, congenital and Peyronie’s disease.

Penile curvature surgery
Penile curvature can be congenital (present from adolescence) or acquired (secondary to Peyronie’s disease). When should surgery be considered? Surgery may be fully justified when the curvature causes significant functional discomfort during intercourse, difficulty with penetration , or a negative impact on body image or self-confidence . In these situations, surgery provides a lasting correction and a high satisfaction rate , with a noticeable improvement in sexual quality of life .

Acquired curvatures: Peyronie's disease
Origin: Peyronie’s disease is linked to the formation of a fibrous plaque on the tunica albuginea, leading to: progressive curvature of the penis, sometimes painful erections, and decreased rigidity in some cases. Surgery is only considered when the disease has been stable for several months .

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
When is it necessary to perform penile curvature surgery?
Surgery is indicated when the curvature hinders or prevents penetration, whether it is congenital or secondary to Peyronie’s disease that has been stable for at least 6 months. A moderate curvature without functional impairment does not require intervention.
What does the operation consist of?
The most common technique is plication of the corpora cavernosa (Nesbit or derivatives): the convex side is shortened to straighten the penis. For severe curvatures, a plate incision with grafting may be preferred to preserve length.
What are the post-operative effects?
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis or with an overnight hospital stay. Erections are painful for the first few weeks, and intercourse can be resumed after six weeks. Complete or near-complete recovery is achieved in over 90% of cases.
Does the operation cause a loss of length?
The plication results in a moderate shortening, on the order of 1 to 2 cm on the longer side, which is generally well accepted. Grafting techniques limit this loss but carry a higher risk of erectile dysfunction: the choice is discussed on a case-by-case basis.
